: 9 hours is a long time to expect a dog not to have to relieve themself. This is really not a housebreaking issue.

: Is there any way someone can come home for lunch to ler her out? Maybe a friend, family member, or a pet sitter that can come once a day to make sure she gets some mental and physical stimulation along with getting to go out and do her business?

Hi Cheri,

In addition to the great advice Jane gave you, I wanted to point out if you are free feeding your dog this can add to your problems.

If you put your dog on a feeding schedule, it's much easier to regulate what is going to come out and when ;)

My boys get fed twice a day, once in the morning and again in late afternoon. I can pretty much tell when they have to go out by doing this.
