| Question: : My dog Jack Russell, 4 yrs old, has been coughing several time in the past but it wont last long. But last Monday night, he coughs like goose for more than 24 hours so I had to take him emerenecy vet hospital to look at him and was told me that he might cough because of his overweight. (24lbs) and was required for x ray to see what is wrong with him but the vet think it probably is just collasping trachea. But I do not know if it was from that or whatever. He is gonna to have xray on Friday morning to find out what is wrong with him. He cough sound like honk, goose coughing and it would not stop so the vet has gave him seditive needle to calm and help him to stop cough but he has not cough since Monday night. Do you know any idea?
First I'll start out by saying that I am NOT a Veterinarian and neither is anyone here. If you're not satisfied with the diagnosis from your vet, I'd suggest going to another Vet. The X-ray might be able to tell your Vet something. Coughing can be a sign of a few different things. Kennel cough and heartworms to name a couple. Has your dog been on heartworm preventative or tested for heartworms? Have they ruled out kennel cough? Good luck, Jane Colvin |
