short hair grooming

Question:

I have a short hair JRT and am wondering how to groom him. I have read your grooming section, however howlong does it take for the hair to grow back and how old can he be to first plucked or stripped. Is it advisable to do it even if they aren't show dogs? What is the average cost also.
