Question:

: ...and I know that there has to be something that I can do besides surgery. I put her on glueclosimine because the vet did not suggest it, so I called him back and got the prescription. WHAT WOULD YOU DO. I was planning on breeding this smart, beautiful and intellegent dog and now, with this, she will have to be neutered. YIKES....they said that she will eventually get arthritis that will cripple her without the surgery. But is it worth doing the surgery and having to fill her full of pain pills? I will do anything. I will pay anything....HELP!!!!

Response:

Dear Krista,

If you haven't already, I suggest you take your little one to a vet who specializes in this specific problem. Specialists have the most up-to-date diagnostics and treatment options in their field of expertise. The specialist is also the person who can best answer your questions regarding the risks and benefits of surgery (or not having the surgery), recovery, medication, etc.

I recommend that you write down your questions and concerns before you visit the vet. Researching the problem will also help you make an informed decision about what is best for your terrier.

Best of luck to you and your little one.
Leslie
