Question:

: I have two pups. 6 and 5 mo. old. the 6 mo. old is a male and I have tried the sprays, kennel, papper and the walks outside for up to almost two hours. some times he does good and potties outside only. most of the time though he seems to save a little for in the house. Now the 5. mo. old has started it the last week. She was house broke. could he be the one that is setting her back or could I do something different. All of the above is what mey vet told me to try. I feel lost. Please try to help me. I want so much to get it right and I feel lost.

: thank you misty

: p.s.the pappers were the sented ones that are suposed to attract them to the door.

Hi Misty,

First of all you are sending your puppies mixed signals. By putting puppy pee papers down you are telling them it's okay to do it in the house. Then you are also taking them outside. Sure he can save some for later when he's in the house because you have also told him by having the papers there he can do it there too!

It has to be one or the other. We never recommend paper-training as it only confuses your dog.

Please go to the link I am providing and order the book "How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days" by Shirlee Kalstone. It is the best book out there about housebreaking, and while it will take longer than the author says, it is an invaluable tool to get your dogs on the right track. It's in paperback is a short read and under $8.00

If you follow her tips to the letter, your dogs should get totally housebroken.

Regards,
Marie
