Question:

: I bought a 3+ yr old pair of JRT from a friend. When I brought the pair home they both had an immediate dislike toward my other JRT. I figured it was that they were "testing them"/ establishing rank so to speak. Well, it has been over a month now. The female is calmed down alot, but still reluctant. The male on the other hand is still out for blood!? Why? How do I get him to stop before he kills one of the others. He's great with the female & great with people. She said she has never had trouble with him, I believe her, but HELP...............

Response:

Dear Toni,

Same sex aggression is well documented in this breed. If any of the terriers are intact, hormones are going to add to the aggression.

I suggest you use our GoToGround search engine to learn more about this issue and what to do about it. In the meantime, I suggest you keep the new pair of JRTs separate from yours until you decide what to do about the situation.

Good luck,
Leslie
