| Question: : My JRT puppy does not walk nicely on a leash. She either sits and won't move or she runs ahead and chokes on her collar. We've tried luring her with treats but have had only limited success. What should I do?
The best way to learn how to teach your pup to walk on a leash is to take her to a training class. Many training schools offer "Puppy Kindergarten" which is designed for very youngs pups; some start as young as 12 weeks with proof of vaccinations. These classes are usually very low key in their training methods and give the youngsters the opportunity socialize with other breeds; socialization with other breeds is very important for a JRT. I also suggest you take advantage of our search engine and read through the Daily Digest for more information on how to get your pup used to a collar and leash. Good luck and enjoy the class!
