Question:

: My 10 month old has bitten 2 kids already. He has always play bit with us and our kids we could never get him to stop, anyway ac almost tried to make us put him down, then they wanted us to give him up and they would adopt him out to a new family. I said to take me to court and I would fight it so they dropped it. My question is I had to fence in my backyard to keep him I want to know if a kid comes up and gets bit through the fence can they make me put him down.

Response:

Dear Angie,

It would be irresponsible of me to advise you on this matter without knowing the laws of your county/state. I'm sorry but I can only suggest that you consult a lawyer regarding liability.

What I will advise you to do is find a trainer/behaviorist to teach you how to stop your terrier's biting habit. Your terrier and your family are suffering the consequences of a behavior that was, and is, correctable. You were wrong to expect your terrier to know the difference between the humans he can bite (your family) and those he can't; JRTs are smart but they aren't THAT smart. :-)

For your little guy's sake, please get help to stop his biting.

Good luck,
Leslie
