| Question: : Dear Sirs: : I was the happy proprietor of an one-year-old Jack Russell dog whose life due to an Anaphylactic complication during the surgical procedures. : As I intend buying another Jack Russell to substitute my deleased pet from the same breeder (the same parents as well), I would like to know the chances for the same thing to happen with this new dog. As a matter of fact, I donīt want this occurence to be repeated. Is the race inclined to any kind of genealogical issues? : Iīm looking forward to your response. If you have any further recommendations, advice or suggestions, I would apreciate it very much receiving them to prevent future problems.
My sincere condolences on the loss of your terrier. The Jack Russell breed is known to have genetic defects (see link below) but I do not know if any of them would cause an adverse reaction to anesthesia. I suggest you speak to your vet (or a vet) regarding what types of genetic defects could be responsible and then compare them to the list of those found in the JRT. I'm sorry that I can't be of more help. Again, my sympathies on the loss of your terrier. Warm regards,
