| Question: : I have a 3 week old puppy, 5 days ago she started screaming loudly for an unknown reason. She was in a crate with her mother and litter mates & in obvious pain so was taken to the vet. They had to sedate her and give her oxygen. X-rays were taken and no cause was found. Her head and neck appeared to be tender. After two days we took her to another vet. He found one ear canal inflamed and red so he put her on antibiotics. The opposite side of her head and behind her ears sometimes is very tender. Sometimes she starts screaming for no reason. She looks like she is in pain because her head and neck contorts to the side and it is a much different cry than normal. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the vet could look for? She is so young and the two clinics haven't seen anything like this.
I've spoken to a breeder and a vet regarding your pup and both said the same thing -- without actually seeing the little one, it is impossible to speculate about what is wrong with her. The best advice I can give is to have the pup examined by as many vets as it takes to diagnose and treat her. I am very sorry that I cannot offer you any other suggestions to help your pup. On behalf of the other Forum volunteers, I send our best hopes and wishes that the wee one has a full recovery. Leslie |
