| Question: : I have two 10-year old JRTs (male and female). The male particularly seems to need to poop 3 to 4 times/day. Is this normal? Do you think this amount could be reduced by feeding a different food? They are on a no-additive diet (dry) lamb and rice for older dogs. : Also, when it's not particularly hot weather, do dogs needs access to drinking water all night? : Thanks!
Diet can definitely have something to do with it. Also, it can have to do with the individual dog's metabolism. I don't know what you're feeding, but a high quality, premium food, will cut down on the "output". A food that's loaded with grains will cause more output. As far as water.. are the dogs outdoors? If so, then yes, they should have water available at all times. If the dogs are indoors and it's not very hot in your home, then they may not need access to water all night. It depends on the individual dog's water needs, their activitiy level, etc. Hope this helps, Jane |
