Common JRT problems

I'm going to get a JRT pup in the next few months. I've done my research and feel that I have found a very good breeder. I crate train and do obedience classes with my current dogs. I hear so much "bad" stuff about JRT's and was wondering if this is always the case. Do they all dig or bark a lot or is more a matter of training to lessen the digging and barking? We're a fairly active family (daily 60-90 minute walks) and the pup will be able to play in the yard with my other dog (Aussie mix). I've seen some mellow dogs and ones that are very driven. If I've done my homework and choose the temperment I like, will that help?
