| Question:
: Thank you for the informative posts, they have been very helpful. My question is about the socialization of moms to their pups. Our 2 1/2 year old JRT has been a very good mama. Now that her 6 babies are 6 weeks old and running around she looks like she is saying, 'Yeah, little play mates!' and runs and tackles them, and seems to expect them to play back. How tough are JRT moms with their pups? Is it normal for them to rush and bite at their ears,(pretty gently for us, but hard for them), and bite their heads and hold them down? The poor pups cry, duck and run to hide, whimpering and shaking their little heads. Or they just shiver on their backs and wait for her to go 'attack' someone else. After reading some of your posts, I get the impression that this I what mamas do, but is she being too rough? Do I intervene, for just hang on and watch my babies learn to 'take it'? And how long before the pups begin to accept this discipline and 'play along'?
