Question:
: Hi, thanks for all the great work! Though I do not have any problems with my love, Tigger, who turned 1 year old in Jan., I do appreciate the info. from your forum.
: I got Tigger when he was 7 weeks old. He was neutered when he was 16 wks. Began basic training when he was 10 wks old(of course passed with flying color). He basically has the run of the house with a doggie door to go out to the yard to do his business when we are not home with him. He is walked at least 3 miles a day. He goes in the shower with us (voluntaryly) almost every other day. We do not apply soap. He is a funny little guy who loves to swim in warm weather. He loves it so much that sometimes we cannot stop him from going into the pool. He would drop his tennis ball from one end and then swim to retreive it. The scary thing is that he then would run in the house wanting me to dry him (sometimes this drives me nuts when I did not catch him in time before he step on and shake on my wood floor). After that, he would repeat the whole process again. He also loves to play with kids (age 5 and up). The only bad incidents that we had was that he tried to bite my 6 year old once when he was approached unexpectedly in his crate(I think it was my son's fault). I scolded him and he tried to be friends with my 6 year old afterwards. He once snapped at me when I pulled him out from his crate for potty when he was sleeping. I put him in his place (just scolded) and it never happened again.
: I think he is such a great little guy because we did everything we were supposed to when he was first brought to our household. We always walk out the door first; always eat before him; always exercise him (walking and also play balls with him). He does tricks and would bring me his tennis ball when asked to. I am so proud of him!!!
: I read about some JRT turned bad and bite people they adored. I feel so bad and I hope that it will never happen to us. He love our little guy so much!!!
: My only question is that since he is in the pool so much, after he swims, is rinsing him in the shower enough? I do not want to use too much soap since I know that it dries out the dog's skin.
: Also one more comment, he hates to have his nails trimmed. I now invested in the hand held Dremmell and this solved a lot of hassle. He still does not like it but at least I don't get scratched all over my body. Thanks again!!!
Response:
Well sounds like you all are having a great time! Yes rinsing him with plain water should be fine.
Thanks
