| Question: : Hi - I've been looking to get a JRT for a short time and have just seen at our local SPCA there is a JRT that is 7 years old. I like the idea that she will be spayed and most likely housebroken, but was wondering what the average lifespan is. I would not want adopt and love a dog that had an average of one year to go.
Of course it will depend on the individual dog and the health of that dog, but this is a breed that can very likely live 16 plus years. I know of several, if not many 18 year old dogs that are still alive and kicking. :o) 7 years old is not an old dog. She could live another 10 plus years. Good luck in your decision and be sure to research thoroughly to make sure this is the breed you want to live with. They are fabulous to those of us who love them, but in the wrong home can be a nightmare. Jane Colvin |
