| Question: : We have 3 poodles and thinking about getting a Jack Russel puppy. Would this be a big mistake?
Much depends on the personalities of your poodles and the personality of JRT you end up getting. I can tell you this for sure: same sex aggression is common in JRTs and that means if you have 2 or more of the same sex regardless of breed, a JRT can get aggressive with the other dog/s. Sometimes even spaying and neutering does not help. People that have experience with the breed and have multiple dogs are willing, if necessary, to keep dogs separated for the rest of the dogs' lives if they need to. You don't mention what size your poodles are, but if they're toy poodles I would think twice, and then maybe even a third time about adding a JRT. A JRT sometimes will look at very small dogs as prey, this is very much still a working/hunting terrier and that drive in them is still there. Thanks for asking ahead of time and doing your homework. Please read the links I am providing to you so you can make an educated decision. When we say that a JRT is not the breed for everyone, there is real meaning behind it.
