Question:

: I just recently purchased our Jack Russell, He is now 8 weeks old. I purchased a crate for him to sleep in at night and he whinned and howled all night long. The next night I tried a different approach by putting him in the utility room with newspaper on the floor. He started whinning and howling as soon as the door was shut and continued throughout the night, keeping the entire family awake. The breeder i purchased him from kept him in the same manner as I'am with no howling problems at all, Can you Please, Please give some advice on how to elminate this problem.

: Sincerely,
: Kevin Madison

Hi Kevin,
In the first place I am sure that your breeder had his littermates with him, and you have to put yourself in his place. How would you like it if you were taken away from the only life you had every know and are now living in a new place? Thinks about that and then realize that your puppy is going to have to get used to its new home and surrounding and that will take time. He is just a baby and he has just left the only life he has ever known and this behavior is not unusual.

You might try using the search engine for finding helpful hints on how to make this an easier transition for him, but really all it take is time and patience you your part and yes a little loss of sleep. This is one of the most asked question by new onwers and it normal for a pup to do, what yours it.

Please feel free to use the search for previous posts on this subject.
and remember time will take care of allot of this. I am also sure that your Breeder will have lots of hints on how to deal with this type of thing also, after all a reputable breeder will be glad to help you after the sale also.

Regards
Linda
