Question:

: HI. I have a 3 yr. old female. She's a great dog. She get lots of attention and lots of playtime. The problem is when our other dog( a Golden mix) play---she barks in her excitement. The neighbors hate it. They are not dog people. She's in the house with us at night and other times during the day, but if the two are out anytime and play--she barks.
: She knows to be quiet on command, but when they are home alone-they play and she barks. You get the picture. Thanks for the help! any ideas?

Hi Tamara,
One thing to keep in mind that this is a breed that is breed to bark and this is one of the reasons that we say that this isn't a breed that is for people that have close neighbors.

What I am trying to say is there isn't much you can do and as far as I know barking during the day is going to be hard to control. Either put one out at a time or just let your neighbors get ear plugs.
You can't train a dog that is breed to bark, not to bark, and this is just something that the Jack Russell is breed to do.

There are many posts on Barking both on the board and in the Archives about barking and you may access them by using the search engine.
Sorry I wish I could be of more help but in this case barking is an instinct that is inherent to this breed.
Regards
Linda
