Question:

: Hello,
: I have a 4 month old cutie named Petey. He is a great puppy! The only question I have is why when he goes #1, he squats like a female dog and doesnt lift his leg like a male dog. Is there a reason why Petey is "going" this way? Thank you in advance for your time.

Response:

Hi Stephanie,
This is a learned process and comes with age! Right now he is too young, and please be grateful about this. I have one two year old who sometimes doesn't lift his leg and it is nothing to worry about and actually I am quite gratful because he is intact and doesn't mark.

You may want to discuss with your Vet about early neutering, and this will prevent him from Marking. Marking is something that all intact males do and it is a problem that you don't want to happen. Please for more information on Marking use our search engine and you will see for yourself what a problem Marking is. Please speak to your Vet on having your pup neuter as soon as possible.

Best
Linda
