Adopting a 3yr old female - house destruction?

My wife and I are thinking of rescuing an approx 3yr female JRT. The foster home says she is wonderful with her other animals as well as children. She is also already crate trained. We would to continue to crate her until she get's used to our house. She will be home alone 6-8 hrs a day. Everyone tells me she will tear up our house when left alone. Is this true, and when I say everyone, I mean no one that has any experience with JRT's.
