| Question: : My husband and I got married about a year ago. He had an older male lab (very submissive) and a seven year old female JRT. I had a 1 1/2 year old female Portuguese Water Dog. When we combined the households, we had some adjustment problems at first, with the JRT being aggressive toward the PWD, but we had a trainer come to the house and things settled down. Now, after 9 months, the agression has started up, worse than ever. It has been going on for about 3 months now. We had the trainer back to the house and did everything she suggested, (similar to what was suggested in another FAQ on your web site) but nothing has worked. They are OK while we are not there, but the JRT is extremely possessive of both me and my husband. She will growl and bark at the PWD even if the PWD is across the room in a corner, lying down and facing away. We are at our wits end!
Those of us who keep two of the same sex, are willing to do this. To find out more about same sex aggression, I suggest you use the Search on this forum, this is one of the draw backs of this terrier. Regards |
