Question:

: I have an 11 year old male Jack Russell. His diet consists of Flint River Ranch kibble. Treats include fruits and veggies. Jack has a history of upset tummy with vomiting and diarrhea. Needless to say his second home seems to be the vet's office. No one who has seen him for treatment seems to know what is causing the problem....they just treat the symptoms. Have checked the yard, the house and the garage for clues as to something he may be getting into. Can't find anything. If anyone out there is dealing with this problem and found a way to solve it please let me know. Thank you

Hi Chris,

I am posting this in hope that some of our readers may be able to help out here.

Have you tried different food for your terrier? Sometimes a dog's system just can't tolerate some food, while others don't seem to bother them at all. I know you are feeding a quality kibble but you may want to try a different one.

Are you free feeding him or only giving him one meal a day? If you said yes to either of these you might want to consider breaking up his meal into 3 smaller meals a day.

Has your vet run any fecal samples and looked for internal parasites, or bacteria or viruses?

Has he been tested for food allergies?

If you are not getting a satisfactory response from your vet I strongly urge you to find either another vet or find the closest university with a veterinary school. These vet schools are always up on the latest medicine, techniques and procedures.

This chronic condition cannot be good for your dog and there has to be an underlying reason for it. If your vet isn't willing to find out why your dog is vomiting and having diarrhea all the time, like i said, it's time to go to someone else.

Regards,
Marie
