Dear Roberta,

JRTs are known to be very loyal to, and protective of, their humans; problems occur when the terrier favors one member of a household over another. The attention-getting behavior you describe should be considered as a warning sign that your terrier has likely already picked her "favorite" human...

Your terrier needs fair and consistent training; both you and your boyfriend need to follow and enforce the SAME rules. When either of you allow the pup to "get away" with something, you are undermining each other's credibility and (sadly) contributing to the pup's confusion i.e., unacceptable behavior.
