Question:

I just want to thank you in advance regarding your wonderful web site, I use it all the time for helpful information and am quite impressed with all of the info you can retrieve on the Search.

Before we made a decision on a JRT we found your web site and purchased books on the breed and read them for months, before we found our perfect JRT's. We currently have 2 JRT's my little girl is a tri-color smooth coat - spayed and my little boy is a broken coat - neutered (rescue). Both have been in puppy school, and obedience training and they are doing very well and have become a wonderful addition to our family.

We have learned a great deal from your web site on nutrition, training, grooming, behavior, nutrition, house breaking, crate training, toy selection, fencing etc., and cannot thank you enough.

My parents also have fallen in love with the breed and have borrowed all of my books to read and are in the process of adopting a rescue (local rescue group not JRT Rescue), male/neutered, senior broken coat. They are hoping there application is picked and we have prepared there house and it is fully supplied and prepared there house for the new arrival, new crate, bed, brush, coat stripping knives, nail clipper, kong, JRT safe toys, healthy training treats and have picked out a new leash collar and have already had a tag made. My parents are reading about up on crate training, and potty training (just in case he has a case of regression). The back yard has been surveyed for any escape routes, and it is ready too. We have called and have a list of the open obedience classes and are waiting to schedule them. I think he will enjoy the local JRT Fun Day's too....

I have spoken with our vet regarding our hopeful new family member because our only concern with him is his skin has a rash (pink/red & bumpy) and his coat is extremely matted, clumpy and missing in places. They suggested that when we pick him up we bring him directly to there office for a full physical and to make sure he doesn't have anything contagious and will do a culture on it. Our vet told us, the same as your web site that it could be anything from his skin & coat being dried out (to much bathing), to an allergy, fungus, etc. They vet also suggested that they give an oatmeal bath after they check him and go ahead and shave him (not stripped using knives because of adding additional irritation) since his coat is such a mess. So we are hoping for the best!!!!!!!

Also, your web site has helped another person in my family prepare themselves, schnauzer, and home for there baby, by purchasing the book you recommend Dog proofing for Baby.

Again, I just want to thank you and cannot express my gratitude for the wonderful help/service you provide and extend to the community.
