Question:

: Our 1 year old Jack Russell is never at a loss for words. She barks at the wind. She is exercised, loved, played with and even has another dog to play with. She just never stops barking and our neighboors are fuming. Will this taper off as she gets older? She stops when you tell her to but that is constant.

: Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Nancy,
The problem is that you have a dog that is bred to bark and this is a natural instinct to them. This is the main reason what we don't recommend this breed for close neighbors and it is also why I live far out in the country!

One thing is that if the dog is getting enough exersise then he will be too tired to bark and a tired Jack Russell is a non barker, and a good dog. This is also a breed that demands allot of exercise. Excessive Barking is one of those things that shows up when a Jack Russell doesn't get the about of exercise he needs.
I am sorry but I don't know any way to curb something that they are bred to do and tons of exercise will help some but it isn't a cure all.
Best
Linda
