Question:

: Is it safe to put flea and tick collars on small puppies??? My husband and I noticed a couple of ticks on one of our JR.'s, so we went to the pet store to find medication-or anything that would help. The only thing we could find was medication like Frontline-however they all said that you should not use them on puppies smaller than a certain weight and age. Our puppies are only 6 weeks old and the only thing we could find that looked safe was a Flea and Tick collar-for puppies-by Frontline. Are the collars too "powerful" for little puppies to be wearing? I know that when I get anywhere close to the collars I can smell them....and it's not too plesant! I would assume that if I think it stinks, they probably think the same. Could this get them sick? What should we do?

: Thanks!

Hi Brandie,
You need to see your Vet about this and they are the only ones that sell products safe for little puppies. Some of those OTC flea and tick treatments can kill small puppies and aren't safe to use.

Please see your Vet for this kind of advice.
