Should we give him up?

My wife and I took in an abandoned JRT puppy. The vet predicted he was 7 weeks old. We realize this was to young to leave his mom. We live in an apartment, have a cat and both work long days. We wanted to help the puppy so he would not be hurt. We seriously thought we might be able to keep the pup. But, we think he is left to long during the day (6 hours). And he doesn't sleep at night. We've tried all the tricks; the kennel,hot bottle, heart beat machine. We know he left his mom to early and we still want to do the best thing for this sweet guy. We just aren't sure we can provide the best home for him. Your web sight did not paint us as the "perfect"dad and mom and we certainly dont live in the locaion you said a JRT needs. Please give us advice so our little guy can have a great life!
