Question:

: We have a four and a half month old JRT male. Of course like any other jrt he is full of energy and runs around a lot. He pretty good at letting us know when he has to go do his deed and goes right to the door so we can let him out. We crate him at night and also when no one is home. At most we are only away for four hours only a couple days a week. We take him out to play and run around in the backyard or he plays indoors and is never unsupervised. We are taking him to training school has soon as we get him the rest of his shots. Hes already starting to watch the house and keeps a close eye on strangers that come in. My question is if we are doing everything the right way? If you could get back to me that would be great.
: Thank You,

It appears you're well on your way to properly raising a JRT; good job, Delia...keep it going! At this time, I suggest you take care not to encourage his protective behavior as it may back fire on you...and on him. Attending class will teach both of you how to appropriately deal with human and canine strangers.

Have fun at training school and please do your "homework" after every class. I assure you that you and your pup will learn more from the training if you take the time to practice at home.

Leslie
