: Our 1 1/2 year old JRT has all of a sudden begun urinating and deficating in the house. This was not a problem before. He will do it even in front of us. We're not sure why he has begun to do this, but it has become more of a problem in the last week, often having "accidents" twice in one night. Can you offer any suggestions as to this behaviour, and how we can stop it.

Dear Tania,

When a dog suddenly exhibits a behavior, the first thing you should do is to find out if there is a physical reason for the behavior. Please take your terrier to your vet as soon as possible.
