Probably because they watch the television show "Frasier" that has a JRT on it named Eddie. Eddie is almost single-pawdly responsible for the meteoric rise in the popularity of this breed, at least here in the USA..

We try to warn people that even "Eddie" has his very terrier moments and that most television and movie people use more than one dog to do all the tricks that are needed on movies and television.
