Question:

: How often do female JRTs go into heat? Mine is 1 1/2 years old and has had one cycle in that time at age 1(swelling and bleeding period). I thought they cycled twice a year and was expecting another period, but have not seen one yet. Will she cycle again when she is 2, or should I see a vet?
: Also, can she only be impregnated when she is in this cycle, or can it happen anytime?


Response:

A female can only get pregant while in cycle, which is why we reccomend that females in heat avoid being around males for up to 30 days. As for her heat cycle, some dogs have one every 6 months others every 8 months etc, each dog will vary. If you which to seek more information I suggest you contact your vet.
