Question:
I know that right away you guys will say "NO! Don't do it!" but hear my story first:
I live in a very quiet neighbourhood (very little traffic, and a walking path very close by) My husband has no problems at all doing this, Brutus (1 1/2 years old) will just trot along beside him, not stopping to sniff anything or to pee on anything. He knows many commands, if they encounter another person with or without a dog, when my husband says "HEEL" Brutus will heel right away.
The problem I have been having is that he is not as obedient with me. He doesn't leave my line of vision, but he stops to sniff/pee many times during our walks, and if I say "HEEL" he gives me a look as if to say 'you've got to be kidding' If he does ignore my heel command I re-attach the leash right away.
I don't understand this behaviour as I am at home with him all day, everyday. I am the one who walks him, feeds him, plays with him. My husband works 10+ hour days and is sometimes away on business for days at a time.
Please help!! he just doesn't seem to respect me!
