Question:

: We have a seven month old male jrt. So far he behaves well for his age. He knows the meaning of sit, gets along well with other dogs, and behaves very good when he is taken for a hike up the mountain and at the vet. Is their any possibility that his behavior may change
: at all?

: Thank you,
: Delia

Hi Delia,

Sounds like your pup is doing great, but remember as he matures he will more than likely be a bit more challenging. It's the terrible teen thing ;)

Pups are pretty malleable and won't truly test you until they mature. If your JRT is not neutered I strongly recommend to get him done ASAP. You won't want your dog marking territory in your home. Also as they get mature they tend to test their boundaries and your limits.

If you haven't gone to obedience school with him, now would be a good time to get enrolled.

Don't panic now, he's not going to turn into some monster, but he will certainly be more independent in his thinking. If you can keep consistent with his training, continue to socialize him and neuter him if he isn't, the transition from puppyhood into an adult terrier should go pretty smoothly.

Regards,
Marie
