| Question: : My JR is almost 98% black and tan with only V.small white stripe on chest otherwise very JR in looks. does this mean he's not a true JR?. I does'nt matter to me but would like to know if this is considerd unusual? unfavorable? etc. a little advise please. Regards Tom
The breed standard for the JRT requires that the terrier be at least 51% white. I suppose somewhere way back in a line there can be a colored terrier and then have one suddenly pop up but this is pretty rare these days. There are Patterdale or Fell terriers that look very similar to a JRT except they are colored terriers, usually being either black or red and some will have a touch of white. You might want to do a search on Google and look up some of these terriers to see if yours looks more like this breed. Regards, |
