| Question: : My 1 1/2 year old Jack Russell (Ellie) sometimes has a very unpleasant odor toward her hind legs, on top of her back. We thought it might be residue from the bones she chews on and then lays where she has been chewing, but it happens when she hasn't been chewing. It is not gas because it is on her fur. The smell is the same all the time in the same place. Do you know what this might be?
It's possible that Ellie may have a problem with her anal sac glands; she could either be "expressing" them inappropriately or they could be impacted. I suggest you have her thoroughly examined by your vet as soon as possible. Whatever Ellie's problem is, the sooner you find out what it is, the sooner you can treat it. :-) Regards, |
