Question:

: We just moved from an apartment to a house recently and my 1 year old brat is extremely happy and enjoying his new found space. Yesterday morning a baby cobra snake slithered into our house. Luckily my boy was outside the garden and didn't see it. I quickly called him in and put him in the crate while my boyfriend caught the snake. We never had this problem before living in an apartment. Someone told us to sprinkle some powdered sulfur outside the house to prevent snakes from coming near and I was wondering whether this method will work and how much harm will it cause if my dog happens to consume them? Or what else can I use that is much safer for my dog?

: Thanks for all your helpful advice!

Hi Celine,

Cobras? Yikes!!!!

I'd ask your vet about ways of keeping the snakes away, as it must be a common problem in your area. Personally, I think I'd run a hot wire around the yard, about 1" from the surface of the ground. As you can tell, I don't like snakes!

Best,
Judy
