| Question: : Our Jack Russell just had 5 puppies. 2 of them have the normal tails that we had docked to the "2/3" length when they were 3 days old. One was born with virtually no tail and the other 2 were born with short tails that curve down slightly. Is this normal at all? I have searched everywhere for info on JRT's born with "bob tails"? Other than the tails they have beautiful markings and seem to be very intelligent.
I suspect the reason you've not found any information on JRTs born without a tail or with a "bob tail" is because this is NOT normal for the breed. Since you are obviously aware of the standard for tail length and the reason behind it, I assume you will not repeat the breeding... Leslie |
