Question:

: i have read thru you faq's. i have 2 jrt's quincy & kaylee. on occasion do vomit. not at any particular time of day or night. just the other day, quincy vomited up a mouse! since it isn't everyday i haven't been concerned. but i have attributed it to the fact that they put everything in their mouth! including the dreaded grass! should i be concerned? is it normal for jrt's to put things in their mouth and therefore result in the occasional vomiting?

Response:

Hi Anna,

I wouldn't worry too much about occasional vomiting, they all do it from time to time. You need to be concerned if the vomit is bloody or smells like feces or looks like coffee grounds or if your dog is vomiting repeatedly in a short period of time. All of these signs require a visit to the vet ASAP.

Also if your dogs are eating mice, please do not set out rat poison for killing vermin. A dog can ingest a poisoned mouse which will in essence poison him.

Regards,
Marie
