Personally, I don't know a thing about Springer Spaniels, but I decided to address your question anyway. You might want to look for a breed club, or web site that specializes in Springers specifically.

However, the information given in the link here is applicable to most dogs in general. Jack Russells are well known for being tricky about accepting a new playmate. Some are more pleasant about it than others. Maybe Spaniels are more laid back. I don't know.
