weak coat

Question:

my dog jack has a very thin coat. You can even wee pink skin is some areas. Can I do anything to thicken his coat(diet,grooming,bathing, etc...)?
He also shakes alot. I don't think his is cold he just seems to want to jump out of his skin. Do you have any suggestions?
