chewing of shoes!!

Question:

I have two neutured male JRT's and when I leave them during the day to do the school run, which takes about 30 minutes, one or both will chew any shoe left accidentally. I would like to know how to find out which one is the culprit or whether I should just crate both of them for the duration. This never happens overnight. If there are no shoes to chew, he/they will go for bits of paper/flex/or wood. I
want to put a stop to it before they destroy my whole kitchen.
