Question:

: I am purchasing a JRT puppy through a reputable family pet store - the dog is coming with a history of both mother and father from the breeder in NC. The info I've researched seems to hold true regarding the dog's lineage. What is a reasinable price range for a JRT puppy?

Response:

Hi Michelle,

Please rethink your purchase. No reputable breeder sells to a pet shop. They all want to know where their pups go and care about their future. Just because the puppy's lineage seems to be correct is no indication of the pups quality. I once stood in a reputable family pet store and heard the sales person give a potential puppy buyer all the "right" answers to their questions. No matter what you consider a reasonable price remember that the pet store has probably at least doubled or tripled their money on this pup and you could go to a reputable breeder and buy a quality pup for the same or less.
