Dear Kris,

I asked some friends who had this surgery performed on their terrier for their advice and they recommend that (A) you should get a second opinion from a veterinary opthamologist and (B) if the eye vet agrees with your vet's diagnosis, then the eye vet is the person who should perform the surgery.

Please do not feel badly about asking your vet for a referral to a specialist. Any type of eye surgery involves specific as well as delicate procedures -- who better to handle this then a vet who specializes in the anatomy of the canine eye...? :-)
