| Question: : Hello. When my little guy was "growing up" his stool would be hard, sometimes lumpy, and he would go 3-4 times a day. He's 14 months now, and for the past several months, maybe more, his stool has softened significantly and he goes maybe twice daily. (FYI: We have changed his food from his original puppy formula to a small breed adult formula.) Other than the food changes, is it quite normal for him to only go twice a day and for it to be somewhat soft? Thanks a lot!
You're correct that the change in frequency and consistency is likely due to the the change in food. As long as your little guy is healthy then pooping twice a day is just fine; ditto for the softer stools. By monitoring a dog's elimination habits, pet owners can often spot a health problem well before it becomes too serious to treat. Keep up the good work, Kim! Warm regards, |
