Question:

: I may have a solution to the question "stained coat-what can I do". I use a de-skunking recipe for my girl when she has a "skunk confrontation" that also brightens/whitens/cleans her coat. It consists of
: 1 pint of hydrogen peroxide, 1 cup of Arm and Hammer (or generic equivalent) baking soda, and a teaspoon of liquid soap. I also add just a bit of warm water in a jar, mix it up, and pour it over my girl (taking care to avoid the eyes/ears- I dampen a washcloth to wash her face) work in the solution and let it set for about 5 minutes before rinsing. It certainly cleans and whitens her coat, plus it makes her smell wonderful (though she seems to think the skunk scent is heavenly). It may work on the coat stain problem as well.

Hi Patsy,

Thanks for your response! I am posting this for the original poster and it sure won't hurt to let people know an effective "de-skunking" recipe to boot! :)

Marie
