Question:

: I searched the archives but couldn't find the answer as what age to switch a puppy from puppy food to adult food. Our JRT will be 9 mths. old Feb. 8 and he is currently on Innova dry puppy food. Thanks.

Response:

Hi Gail,

It depends upon who you ask...I know some JRT owners who switched to adult food at 6 months and some who continued to feed the puppy formula until their terrier was 12 months old. Personally, we starting changing over to adult food when our terriers were around 9 months old. And even though it was the same brand of food, we still took our time; I figure they were probably 10 months old before they were fully on the adult formula. :-)

We talked to our vet about feeding them adult food when they were still "technically" puppies and he didn't have a problem with it. I guess you could say 9 months is a "happy medium" for puppy owners. LOL!

You all stay snuggled up, Gail. :-)

"Warm" (!) regards,
Leslie
