broken coat puppy?

Question:

I purchased a JRT named Chloe from some local breeders. While we were, we saw the parents of Chloe and they were both smooth coats and now that Chloe is 4 mos. old she is showing signs of having a broken coat (mohawk down her back). Is this possible? P.S. Just found this website and I love it, great job and keep up the good work!
