Question:

: About 6 months ago I got a JR from the local SPCA. She is a very loving dog which they figured was under a year at the time. We now have the problem of her attacking our older female poodle which was here long before her. If she doesn't quit we have to get rid of her. We don't want to do that but she won't let go of the other dog and we are not sure how to deal with her. Can you help? Please we love Emmy!

Response:

Beck, this question comes to us again and again. Many female Jacks simply cannot tolerate another female dog in "their" house. Doesn't matter that they got along for 6 months. Its wonderful that you took this gal into your house & gave her a loving home. But, its too bad that you weren't made aware of this potential for "same sex aggression" as its called. Chances are good that they will never be friends - you'll have to keep them apart, very carefully, for their own safety. Wish I had better news. C.P.
