: My 2 yr old JRT, female is destroying our new entertainment center by JUMPING up to the TV screen EVERY time an ANIMAL appears on screen. She is well trained but seems to think they're coming out of the TV? IS this a territory issue? Tried putting a TV at her level instead of the TV's UP in the E-center & still aggressively bouces off the fricken screen. I cannot watch TV due to # of commercials etc., I had to tape the dog show & will crate her to watch... if under covers & hears a song from a commercial & knows there's an animal coming -- balistic time -- barking, bouncing etc.
: I don't know who to go to for this, animal behavior specialist? ANY help appreciated
You certainly have a well-trained terrier -- she has learned that is OK to go nuts barking/jumping when she sees a light or an animal on TV. Not quite what you expected when you encouraged her, huh? :-)
Yes, you need to consult a behaviorist to help both your terrier and your family work through this problem. The sooner you understand what is causing the problem, the sooner you can fix it.
