| Question: : I aquired my jrt when she was 2 1/2 yrs old. I've had her about 8 months. We still can not get her to go outside. I take her out and all she does is roam the yard. I wondered if there is any way to house break her. I've heard that at her age she can never be broken? Please help!!! my husband and I love her terribly and we have tried everything!
I don't know who told you that an adult JRT cannot be housetrained but I assure you that he/she is wrong. ANY dog, regardless of age, can be housetrained if the owner is willing and able to do the work to teach the dog WHERE and WHEN it is allowed to go potty. Please refer to our FAQS (links below) and our Search Engine to learn more about housetraining. This information is not just for puppy owners, Maranda -- the same ideas, suggestions, etc also apply to adult dogs. Good luck, Housebreaking FAQ, Crate Training FAQ, Is Crating Cruel? FAQ |
